Experience Authentic Apple Cider:
The Cold Hollow Difference
The question asked most frequently by the thousands of guests who visit Cold Hollow Cider Mill is “What is the difference between apple cider and apple juice?”. And what an insightful, important question that is. The answer defines the very essence of Cold Hollow.
Apple cider is produced by squeezing apples. The resulting golden, slightly cloudy, aromatic juice has been prized as a beverage staple since ancient times. Cold Hollow uses a time-tested rack-and-cloth method to create this delectable, refreshing beverage.
We start with Mcintosh apples, a well-established New England apple variety that is the quintessential cider apple. To this we add a proprietary mix of other apples, such as Honey Crisp, Gala and Rome, to add brightness and complexity to our cider. No additional sweeteners are added. None are needed.
Modern apple juice is a manufactured product. It begins with concentrated cider to which is added water, sugar and many other additives to make it shelf stable so that it need not be refrigerated at your grocery store. The taste bears little resemblance to fresh, wholesome apple cider.
Authentic cider is crafted, not manufactured. We combine modern sanitation methods with old-fashioned, time-tested pressing methods to create our cider. We believe the extra work and expense make all the difference. With just one sip of our mouthwatering cider, we think that you will agree.
